Where are the Nuclear Weapons?

Currently eight countries possess nuclear weapons – they are:
the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, France, China, India, Pakistan and Israel.

Activity:

  1. Find out if there are any other countries who would like to possess nuclear weapons. What reasons do they give for wanting these weapons?
  2. Find out if there are any countries that have got rid of their nuclear weapons. What reasons did they give for getting rid of these weapons?

Doesn't North Koea have nuclear weapons - there was a big test in 2006. See CNN at http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2003/nkorea/
