SETI – why bother?

What difference would it make?

The shift in thinking from the geocentric model of the Universe to the heliocentric model of the Solar System changed the way we see ourselves. People had to come to terms with the idea that they were not at the centre of everything.

Activity: Discuss

  • How would we feel if we discovered intelligent life elsewhere?
  • What would it tell us about our planet?
  • What would it tell us about our species?
  • Would it change our thinking in the same way as the shift from geocentric to heliocentric models.
